Part of an ongoing series, this work adopts the image of the stray dog to draw parallels between how Dominican women and these animals (often seen as pests) are similarly disregarded. “ Article 106”refers to the Dominican Republic’s new penal code, 74-25, which bans abortion under all circumstances, including cases of rape or

illness.

As a personal critique of the new penal code, Ley 74-25, I am developing drawings of similar scale where viralata (stray) dogs and surrounding plants merge and take on feminine presence, transforming into a haven that envisions care, resilience, and interconnection amid restrictive systems.
