Influenced by the myth of Daphne and Apollo, “Daphne Found a Window” reflects on my views on escape and self- preservation. In the Greek myth, Daphne turns into a laurel tree to escape the obsessive pursuit of Apollo, whose feelings she does not reciprocate. In my depictions, I explore the idea of Daphne not only transforming into a tree to escape but also finding other places of refuge, such as a window, where, in the imaginary, she is able to exist in the shape (nymph or tree) of her choice.
